Behind the Artwork

The yellowfin tuna still vivid in his head, our founder and marine illustrator Simon Cox hit the drawing table. With various ideas swimming around for a new hooded fishing shirt, Simon hoped to document his wild encounter. After all, it’s what every angler loves, and it’s what we are all about.

Narrowing down elements

Our selection of hooded fishing shirts is made from UV protective clothing, keeping our folk cloaked at UPF 50+. Briny’s protective long sleeves are engineered with a lightweight advanced moisture-wicking SeaGuard performance fishing fabric with antimicrobial properties.

Our founder Simon wanted illustrations that interplayed the action-packed scene and a graphic motif to match the intention.

Traditionally, the seaman has always looked to the birds, nature’s fish finder. BRINY relies on the Frigate bird, so we’ve given him a place on the front of our proprietary CloakCamo shirts. 

This high baller of a bird is incredibly fast and skillful in the air. Spot him maneuvering effortlessly, gliding over the water, or diving in to catch some tail.

It’s Life Or Death

There’s nothing like a good show. And Simon hoped to capture the sea creatures in their natural feeding frenzy in a dynamic illustration for the new BRINY hooded fishing shirts.

• One of the fastest! They have been known to reach speeds of up to 68mph!
• Their long, sword-like upper jaw makes them one of the most recognizable fish. Also, they’ll slash through fish without a second thought

Microtech UPF +50 fabric
